In October 2021, Pope Francis initiated the Synod on Synodality, an extraordinary two-year listening process.
Pax Christi International will send a strong message to the Synod that the Church we envision promotes nonviolence and just peace in every way.
Take a few minutes to watch this video message from Marie Dennis, program chair of the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative and senior advisor to Pax Christi International’s Secretary General. In the video, Marie explains a bit about the Synod and how a Pax Christi contribution to the synod process will be prepared.
The breakout rooms during this session will be asked to answer the following questions:
- If the Church were to adopt ecological conversion and nonviolence as a way of life, how would relationships in the Church change?
- How can the Church best promote ecological conversion, nonviolence and just peace?
- Can you share an example of how the Church promotes or undermines ecological conversion, nonviolence and just peace in your community?
We are grateful for the members and friends of Pax Christi who participated in Zoom sessions over the past few weeks, who shared their thoughts and concerns for the Synod. Sessions were held with folks in the United States and Canada; Latin America and the Caribbean; Europe; Africa; Japan and Korea; the Philippines; and Australia and New Zealand; and Palestine.
The collected notes from each session will be integrated into one document which will be prepared in June 2022, with a final version delivered to the Synod on Synodality in July 2022.
If you have any additional material that you would like to include in Pax Christi’s message to the Synod office, contact Pax Christi International at nonviolence@paxchristi.net.
We are deeply grateful for your commitment and engagement in this vital process.
