By Our Secretary General Martha Inés Romero presented a greeting on behalf of Pax Christi International at the event ‘Peace among peoples 60 years after Pacem in Terris’, the encyclical of His Holiness John XXIII. Joining her as speakers were the President of Pax Christi Italy, Bishop Giovanni Ricchiuti, and (virtually) Marie Dennis, Senior Director of the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative, Prof. Ken Butigan and Prof. Eli McCarthy, members of the CNI Steering Committee.
Bishop Giovanni Ricchiuti raised a crucial point: “We should not resign ourselves to the status quo as if it were impossible to take different paths”, he emphasized. “As a peace movement, it is crucial for us to regroup and promote a culture of peace, not only in the realm of religion but also in the realm of humanity.”
