On 20 September 2026, Pax Christi International co-organised the Geneva Peace Walk, a silent and nonviolent march held under the theme “One Humanity”. Mattia Tosato, representing Pax Christi International, and Frolian Foster, from Pax Christi Switzerland, joined the march alongside representatives of the other participating organisations and initiatives.

The event brought together Mouvement de la Paix, Initiatives of Change – Caux Foundation, Heartfulness, LoveForce, Jai Jagat 2020–30, Be the Love, NVC Geneva, La Paix à chaque pas and Pax Christi International. Participants walked from the Place des Nations to the Perle du Lac, where the march concluded with a moment of meditation.

The silent and nonviolent character of the initiative gave particular meaning to the gathering. Rather than relying on slogans, the walk created a shared space in which people from different backgrounds, convictions and traditions could express a common commitment to human dignity, nonviolence and mutual respect.

For Pax Christi International, co-organizing the event is part of a wider effort to connect international advocacy with local engagement. Geneva is a major centre of multilateral diplomacy, but change also depends on communities, relationships and spaces where people can meet, listen to one another and act together.

The participation of Pax Christi Switzerland reinforced this local dimension. By opening such initiatives to the wider public, it becomes possible to bring questions of disarmament, reconciliation and solidarity closer to everyday life while leaving space for local movements and communities to shape their own contribution.

At a time marked by war, polarization and mistrust, the Geneva Peace Walk offered a simple message: lasting change is also built through encounter, nonviolence, solidarity, and the willingness to walk together.
