This September, the Catholic Institute for Nonviolence invites faith leaders, educators, activists, community organizers, and students to Rome and Assisi for Gospel Nonviolence in Action, a ten-day international training exploring the power and practice of courageous active nonviolence rooted in the Gospel. Learn. Practice. Lead. Transform.

Your journey

The training unfolds in three stages, each building on the one before it:

  • September 2–8 — Seraphicum, Rome. Seven days of intensive, experiential training in the theology and practice of active nonviolence.
  • September 9–10 — International conference. Participants join Unarmed and Disarming Peace, the inaugural conference marking ten years of Pax Christi’s Catholic Nonviolence Initiative, alongside scholars and practitioners from around the world.
  • September 11 — Assisi. A day of pilgrimage, prayer, and reflection at the tomb of St. Francis.

Who this training is for

Gospel Nonviolence in Action is designed for faith leaders, educators, activists, community organizers, students, and anyone preparing to lead a program or project on active nonviolence in their own community.

Practical information

  • Group size: Limited to 25 participants
  • Language: Training offered in English
  • Registration fee: €600 (690 USD)
  • Included: Training, the conference, the trip to Assisi, daily lunch, and coffee breaks
  • Not included: Participants cover their own lodging, other meals, and travel expenses and/or visas

Accommodation is available on-site at the Seraphicum:
