September is approaching, and with it comes the Season of Creation, celebrated from 1 September to 4 October. In 2026, Pax Christi International once again wishes to use this important occasion to launch a global campaign dedicated to promoting peace and nonviolence, bringing together individuals, communities, organisations, faith groups, schools and peacebuilders to share a collective message of hope.
Together with Pax Christi Asia Pacific, this year we are launching the "I Vow for Peace" photo campaign, inviting participants around the world to come together in a shared commitment to building a better world.
The campaign seeks to transform individual images into a collective voice, reminding us that peace is not merely an ideal, but a concrete commitment rooted in justice and active nonviolence.
Through their image and message, each participant can help inspire others and promote a culture of peace.
How to take part
Taking part is simple. Individuals, as well as representatives of communities and organisations, are invited to take a photograph while holding a sign with a pledge or message dedicated to peace and nonviolence.
You can use the campaign slogan, "I Vow for Peace", or create your own message, such as "We Choose Nonviolence" or "Peace Begins With Us".
To take part, simply:
- Gather a representative or group from your community (in the case of an association or community).
- Prepare a peace pledge sign, using "I Vow for Peace" or your own message.
- Take a clear, well-lit photograph of the participant(s) holding the sign. Participants are also encouraged to wear white or calming colours, such as blue, as a symbol of peace.
- Send the photograph to a.garofalo@paxchristi.net by 20 September 2026.
The collected photographs will be brought together into a global digital mosaic, which will be shared across Pax Christi Intetnational's social media channels and with international partners working to build peace.
A global voice for nonviolence
The campaign will run from 21 September, the International Day of Peace, to 2 October, the International Day of Nonviolence.
This period will provide an opportunity to amplify our shared commitment to peace and active nonviolence, bringing together voices from across the world and highlighting the power of collective action in building a more just and peaceful future.
