Belgium: Former president of Pax Christi Wallonie-Bruxelles, Rev. Luc Roussel, passes away


29/6/19 - On Sunday 2 June 2019, the Brussels priest Luc Roussel (68), former president of Pax Christi Wallonie-Bruxelles (now BePax), died in a hospital in Wavre. He was born in Ixelles on March 31, 1951 and ordained a priest on June 28, 1981. After his ordination he became a member of the priestly team for the workers pastoral in Schaerbeek and Saint-Josse. In 2009 he became dean of Brussels North East. After his civilian retirement in 2016, he became assistant priest in the pastoral unit Anderlecht...

Luc Roussel was completely open to the world through his education as a historian, his interest in politics and especially for everything that is human.

"If I had not been a priest, I would never have had the opportunity for so many exceptional encounters," he said.

He was a tireless reader with, in addition to history, a preference for Italian novels and religious sociology...
