Conscientious objection to military service

On 27 September 2013, the Human Rights Council has adopted without vote the Draft Resolution A/HRC/24/L.23 entitled "Conscientious objection to military service" under the leadership of Costa Rica, Croatia and Poland by which "recognizes that the right to conscientious objection to military service can be derived from the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion or belief". This is another important resolution in the promotion and enhancement of the world peace.

It is not possible to live in a peaceful society without the recognition of our right to be a conscientious objector to military service. This resolution pays tribute to the great work performed by NGO and CSO during the 24th session of HRC, which has finished on 27 September after three weeks of intensive negotiations.
