Democratic Republic of Congo: Africa Reconciled posted 30 accredited election observers for the December presidential election

13/1/19 - In order to follow the voting operations (presidential, national and provincial) which took place on December 23, 2018 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, our member organisations, Africa Reconciled, was accredited by the National Independent Electoral Commission/CENI in view of the national observation of said elections.

In total, on the day of the polls, 30 young people from Africa Reconciled were deployed in the field as election observers, including 18 in the city of Goma and 12 in the different areas of intervention of RA due to two observers per zone of intervention.

The purpose of this initiative was to allow the organisation to be able, to a certain extent, to feel the pulse of the way the elections were held on the date indicated. Recall that during the pre-election period, the electoral process continues to make martyrs in some corners of the country and this state of affairs already bodes the eventuality of disputes post-election.
