DR Congo: Nonviolence training leads to network of peacemakers

On 30 November, 35 young adults from DR Congo and Burundi met in Uvira, South Kivu, DR Congo, to evaluate a project on nonviolence training.

The project, sponsored by UNESCO and the Niwano Foundation, aims to train young people from five localities in DR Congo (Uvira, Goma, Butembo, Bukavu) and Burundi (Bujumbura) on the concept and practice of nonviolence. The group members, who met in the first semester of 2015, have been sharing their experience with youth groups in their localities. With the support of local Pax Christi member organizations, they expect to form a youth network of nonviolent peacemakers.
