France: Report from Pax Christi France highlights publication of latest newsletter

30/6/19 - Pax Christi France is a movement that "dares" peace: an open, generous peace, to live and share with family, community and internationally. But it is also, and initially, an organisation that is organised and lives thanks to the support of its members, the donations of the faithful of the Catholic Church and the commitment of dozens of volunteers who take turns to organise meetings, thematic meetings, marches, and events that punctuate our route and on which we meet so many witnesses, people of good will, curious friends. This is not to even mention the permanent team that, from the headquarters of Rue Morère in Paris, provides financial management, the publication of the Journal of Peace and the website, the animation of commissions, contact with local groups, the good functioning of the "institutional machine": presidency, general delegate, national council, council of commissions.
On 24 March, the members gathered in a general assembly to hear the report on the actions of the past year - and also of the triennial period of reference, because we have a multi-year "planning" for our work - approve the accounts (they are good!), and discuss and validate the Guidelines for the new triennium 2019-2022. The assembly also proceeded to the partial renewal of the National Council, which is the movement's governing body, entrusted with the task of overseeing the implementation by the new General Delegate of said Guidelines. It was on May 11 that the new Council held its first session, which proved to be particularly rich and fruitful. What was it? Simply to take stock of the challenges facing the movement and to launch a courageous dynamic so that Pax Christi continues to witness and act, within the Church and society, for peace...
