Kenya: Boda Boda safety, wellness and peace project

Our member organisation, Amani Communities Africa, is a partner in the BODA BODA road safety, wellness and peace project. The main objective of the programme is to empower the community, promote the culture of peace, reduce vulnerability, manipulation, violence and crime. Boda Boda is the local name for motorcyclists in Kenya whose fast-growing industry is informal and unregulated. The riders learn on the job, without proper training how to ride in traffic and road safety. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) reported that more than 3,000 Kenyans die every year due to road accidents caused by the riders. This programme  aims to improve the lives, health, livelihoods and well-being of thousands of riders. This will make them better prepared as agents of peace, security, health and well-being in the community and country. The program is replicable to other towns, for widespread and sustainable peace and development.
