Pax Christi International submits written contribution to EU on human rights and democracy

1/5/19 - Pax Christi International has submitted a written contribution to the EU on its forthcoming Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy (2020–2024), the successor of the present plan expiring at the end of 2019.  It follows our participation in an information session with officials of the EU External Action Service (EEAS) and of the department of international cooperation (DG DEVCO) of the European Commission. The contribution gives some general recommendations after which it focuses on specific suggestions on business and human rights and partnerships with civil society, including faith-based actors. The current consultation phase, to which Pax Christi International is contributing, will be followed by a Joint Communication by the to-be-elected European Commission and EU High Representative and the final adoption of the action plan through Foreign Affairs Council conclusions.
