South Africa consultation on economic inequality
The widening gap between the rich and the poor is an area of great concern for the Church in South Africa. The Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference (SACBC) convened a consultation on this topic in early September at St John Vianney Seminary.
Bishop Kevin Dowling (photo), Deputy Chairman of SACBC’s Justice and Peace department, and Co-President of Pax Christi International gave a theological reflection based on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and the prophetic sayings of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador.
