International humanitarian organisations operating in Sudan have issued a renewed urgent appeal calling for the protection of civilians in the city of El Obeid, North Kordofan.
As attacks intensify and the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, the organisations warn of the real risk of another humanitarian catastrophe. They urge all parties to the conflict, as well as the international community, to take immediate action to prevent any further escalation.
The statement was published and circulated by the Sudan INGO Forum, the coordination and representative body for the international non-governmental organisation (INGO) community in Sudan. The Forum currently comprises 70 member and observer organisations delivering humanitarian assistance, development programmes, and peacebuilding initiatives across all 18 states of Sudan. It aims to facilitate communication, information sharing, and collective action among its members, ultimately enabling more effective and efficient humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding responses throughout the country.
