Pope Leo sends greetings to the Pax Christi USA national conference
In his message to Pax Christi USA’s National Assembly on July 25, 2025, Pope Leo XIV once again placed nonviolence at the heart of the Church’s mission. “Efforts to promote nonviolence are all the more necessary,” he wrote, at a time marked by armed conflict, deep divisions, and the suffering of forced migration.
Recalling that the Risen Christ’s first words to the Apostles were words of peace, unarmed and disarming, humble and persevering, the Pope urged the Church to be “present and visible” wherever reconciliation is needed most: in parishes, neighbourhoods, and on the peripheries.
Pope Leo’s vision is clear: nonviolence is not an optional extra for a few, but the daily calling of all disciples. It is a task that begins in our own communities, as we build “houses of peace” rooted in dialogue, justice, and forgiveness, spaces where hostility can be defused and hope restored.
Since the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Leo has carried forward a consistent message: peace requires courage, creativity, and persistence. His words echo with the urgency of our time, inviting the Church and the world to choose a path that can truly transform hearts, relationships, and institutions.
This inspiring message was also covered by Vatican News, a sign of its importance for the global Church.
