On 27 January, at the headquarters of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) in Brussels, the traditional prayer and breakfast gathering organised by Justice & Peace Europe took place. Among representatives of EU institutions, Churches, religious organisations, academia and civil society, Giulia Bordin, Advocacy Officer at Pax Christi International, was also in attendance.

Participants joined together in the Prayer for Peace written by Pope Francis and then reflected collectively on the Message for the 2026 World Day of Peace by Pope Leo XIV, presented by H.E. Mgr Bernardito Auza. Echoing the Holy Father’s call for an “Unarmed and Disarming Peace”, Bishop Auza focused on the challenges of our time, particularly those arising from technological developments in the military sphere.

The moment of fraternity concluded with a shared prayer that justice and peace may spread throughout the world.
