The presentation of the EU–LAC Group’s priority plan, ahead of the 2025 EU–CELAC Summit in Colombia, took place on Monday, 13 October, at the European Parliament. The event brought together several organisations and NGOs active in the social sector, including CIDSE and SOLIDAR & SOLIDAR Foundation, with Pax Christi International among the co-organisers.

In a historical period marked by deep social inequalities, the protection of human rights cannot be separated from a safeguarded environment and from policies that place respect for our planet and all territories at their core. The urgency of adopting an ethical environmental perspective concerns both Europe and Latin America, and a shared strategy is essential.

As Pax Christi International, we are pleased that the event highlighted a vision grounded in equity and equality, values that cannot thrive in unprotected territories governed solely by commercial logic. Walking together in a joint partnership is the key to building a future of democracy across both regions.
