On the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Pax Christi International and the Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA) invite you to join “Lanterns for Peace: From Hiroshima to the World”, a moment of reflection, remembrance, and hope.
In collaboration with the Hiroshima–Coventry Club and students from Hiroshima, participants will light lanterns and read testimonies from Hiroshima to honour the victims of the atomic bombings and renew our shared commitment to just peace and a world free of nuclear weapons.
As global tensions continue to rise and the threat posed by nuclear weapons intensifies, this gathering offers an opportunity to stand together in solidarity, remember the devastating humanitarian consequences of nuclear warfare, and reaffirm our collective responsibility to build a more peaceful future.
We warmly invite peace advocates, civil society organisations, members of the diplomatic community, faith communities, students, the Japanese community in Belgium, and all those committed to peace and disarmament to participate. Please also consider sharing this invitation with your colleagues, members, and networks.
