Pax Christi International believes in the transforming power of nonviolence and the vision of a just peace. We remain committed to walking together, safeguarding human dignity, and sowing hope in places overshadowed by fear.
Since October 7th, 2023, the spiral of violence in the Holy Land has brought immeasurable suffering and deepened divisions. Too often, we have witnessed the silence of governments and faith leaders, a silence that looks away, a silence that allows injustice to continue. That silence wounds and isolates.
Today, however, we embrace a different silence. Not the silence of indifference, but the silence of lament, of listening, of solidarity. In this silence, we disarm our hearts, open space for compassion, and deepen our togetherness. This silence prepares us for integral human disarmament, beginning within ourselves and extending to our societies.
We choose to remain silent today so that we may continue to speak with a stronger voice tomorrow: for nonviolence, for just peace, and for the dignity of every person in the Holy Land.
We invite you all to join us in this action and practice one hour of silence today, wherever you are, in prayer, in reflection, in lament and in solidarity with all who suffer.
