The Catholic Institute for Nonviolence participated in and contributed to the Peace Conference of the General Commission for Justice and Peace Spain, held March 6-8 in Alicante.
Representatives from the Justice and Peace commissions of each diocese in Spain gathered at the national level to reflect, learn, and discern the future of peace in the world in light of the current worrying situation.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Catholic Institute for Nonviolence, the latest research on Nonviolence and several inspiring experiences in different contexts.
The conference resulted in a firm commitment by the commissions to active nonviolence as the Christian community’s response to violence and war, which includes the creation of spaces and more in-depth training in the tools and strategies of nonviolence in order to respond to the call of the Gospel and the nonviolent response of Jesus.
