Pax Christi International joined the #CeasefireNOW campaign immediately, at its launch, responding to the immense human suffering and destruction in Gaza and across the region. Since then, the impunity that failed to stop the atrocities and destruction in Gaza, is fueling the escalating hostilities across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, and the Gulf, driving more killing, mass displacement, targeted destruction of civilian infrastructure, restricted access to essential services, and deepening food insecurity.

Guided by our faith and the principles of Active Nonviolence, we affirm that true peace is not merely the absence of violence, but the presence of justice, human dignity, and accountability. A peace that is not true is incompatible with the Gospel’s call to love and protect one another.

We demand an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, full humanitarian access, protection of civilians, and accountability for all violations of international law. The ongoing impunity and denial of aid deepen suffering, eroding the very norms designed to protect humanity. Peace must be comprehensive and just, addressing both immediate violence and the structural causes that perpetuate it.
