Martha Inés RomeroChristmas, a feast of peace, unity and hope… We remember that, then, there was fear, uncertainty, violence… Like today! Suddenly a light enveloped them, and they heard a voice from on high announcing to them: “Do not be afraid, I announce to you a great joy, which is for all the people.” And a song: “Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to those loved by God.” The Glory of God connected with peace on earth and the sign is a fragile child in a manger, in a context today in ruins due to the genocide in Gaza, barbarism and multiple violences in so many scenarios of our Mother Earth…

The peace that saves and reconciles human beings, them with Nature and with the Divinity, springs from a hope, the one that Jesus left us: a new form of nonviolent relationships and of living in community is possible, starting from the inclusion of the most impoverished, the excluded, to whom justice and life will come galore! Let us not be afraid, the Palestinian people with the Sumud teach us to continue to be a witness of resistance, of strength to raise our voices; this is how it should be; this is our commitment as Pax Christi International and its Catholic Initiative for Nonviolence!

To continue, with our renewed hope, in 2025, the year in which we will celebrate our 80th Anniversary as a Catholic peace movement!
