We continue to follow with great passion and hope the Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, currently taking place in Santa Marta, Colombia.

Pax Christi International has also joined the voices of more than 150 religious leaders calling for a treaty to halt the expansion of fossil fuels and to accelerate a just transition towards renewable energy.

During the conference, Bishop José Domingo Ulloa reaffirmed that the climate crisis and poverty share the same root causes, and that continued dependence on fossil fuels is incompatible with the Gospel message. The initiative echoes Pope Francis’ call for faster and more concrete action on climate change.

How can we intervene?

🔹Endorse the Fossil Fuel Treaty as an individual of faith organisation.

🔹Join the webinar on Wednesday April 29th at 6:00 pm CEST: Live from Santa Marta: Advancing Climate Justice and a Just Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels.

We will continue to provide updates on the progress of the conference, sharing its key outcomes and the next initiatives to which our joint dialogue will lead.
