Every year a light comes from Bethlehem.

Before Christmas, the Scout movement takes a flame from the Eternal Flame from the Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. They carry it into the world as a sign for peace. Even in these years, when the longing and hope for a lasting peace in the Holy Land is so urgent. The light brings peace to us and is a sign of our willingness to be channels of peace, by our words and actions.

In Brussels we receive the light, brought to us by the scouts and guides, on Wednesday 10. December, 18.30h at the Parc Léopold (in front of the House of European History, near Place Jean Rey). From there we accompany the light to the Chapel for Europe, where we will share a moment of reflection and prayer for peace in the Holy Land and worldwide. The peace light will then be distributed to all who want to carry it on to their parishes, communities, houses and so on.

Please, bring along a lantern to take the light back home.

The welcoming of the light is organised by Les Scouts, the Chapel for Europe, Pax Christi International and CIDSE.
