Dear friends,
I am writing to you today as a long-time supporter of Pax Christi International, and as someone deeply inspired by the critical role that Pax Christi International continues to play in our fragile and fragmented world.
For nearly 80 years, Pax Christi International has been an unwavering voice for global justice, reconciliation, and nonviolence. Its work has touched lives across the globe, offering hope where there is despair and creating space for dialogue and reconciliation where there is division. At a time when wars, environmental crises, and social inequalities abound, the tireless work of Pax Christi International reminds us that a just and lasting peace is not a distant dream but a tangible reality that we can all help build together.
I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of Pax Christi International’s work, through conversations with people in global communities whose lives have been changed as result of Pax Christi training sessions and advocacy. I am also familiar with Pax Christi’s work in other contexts, including at the United Nations, and know the great esteem in which Pax Christi International is held by those working for global justice and peace.
While I have also long been active in Pax Christi groups both at my local and national level – and continue to offer my active financial support to those groups, as well – the cries of millions living in global poverty and desperation are a clarion call for heightened international attention. Because of my deep belief in the unique value and efficacy of Pax Christi International, I feel moved to do something special to demonstrate my support for its remarkable global work. So between now and December 31, I will match every dollar donated to Pax Christi International—up to $50,000.I am a retired person, living off my savings. But I feel it imperative, at this time in history, to offer this level of support to an organization I view as doing the global work that needs doing.
Pax Christi’s upcoming 80th anniversary in 2025 is not just a milestone—it’s a moment to recommit to the values that have guided the global movement for decades.
