During this Holy Week, we echo the deep concern expressed by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land.

On Palm Sunday, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the Custos of the Holy Land were prevented from reaching the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, despite complying with all imposed restrictions.

Even though the blockade was lifted last night, what happened remains unacceptable and constitutes a violation of fundamental rights. This is not an isolated occurrence, but part of a broader reality of prolonged occupation, where restrictions on movement and access continue to shape daily life and limit presence in sacred spaces.

A just peace requires an end to occupation and respect for human dignity.
