From May 19 to 26, Pax Christi International joins the global community for #LaudatoSiWeek!
As we approach Pentecost on Sunday, May 19, the launch of Laudato Si’ Week 2024 marks the 9th anniversary of the publication of the encyclical Laudato Si’. This week-long event, running until Sunday, May 26, sets the stage for Pope Francis’ message on September 1, marking the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.
This year’s theme, “Seeds of Hope,” inspires us all to be beacons of faith and love, nurturing our suffering planet. Let’s come together to cultivate a sustainable future, remembering that true change begins with each of us. As Laudate Deum reminds us, “there are no lasting changes without cultural changes … and there are no cultural changes without personal changes.”
Laudato Si’ is crucial for a nonviolent future, highlighting the interconnectedness of caring for creation and promoting peace. By fostering respect for our environment, we also foster respect for each other, paving the way for a harmonious and nonviolent world.
Don’t miss out on daily actions to care for creation—check out the celebration guide by Laudato Si’ Movement. Within the Celebration Guide for the week, you’ll find a range of daily actions designed to inspire ecological conversion and promote sustainable practices. From advocating for green transportation and food choices to reducing waste and embracing integral ecology, each day focuses on a specific theme. Through inspirational quotes and practical activities, the guide empowers individuals to foster a deeper respect for creation, adopt sustainable habits, and commit to a lifestyle in harmony with the Creator’s handiwork.
