Marie Dennis, Senior Director of the CNI, Honoured with 2024 Clare Award by the Sisters of St. Francis.
We are thrilled to announce that Marie Dennis has been honoured with the prestigious 2024 Clare Award by the Sisters of St. Francis (Clinton, Iowa).
Marie Dennis, who served as co-president of Pax Christi International from 2007 to 2019, is currently the Senior Programme Director of our Catholic Nonviolence Initiative (CNI).
The Clare Award recognizes a woman who exemplifies the qualities of St. Clare and embodies the values of the Clinton Franciscans: promoting active nonviolence and pursuing peace with justice in harmony with all of creation.
We are deeply grateful to the Sisters of St. Francis, esteemed supporters of Pax Christi International, for honouring Marie’s significant contributions to peace and justice.
The award ceremony took place on Thursday, July 25, at Rastrelli’s Tuscany Special Events Center in Clinton, Iowa. Marie Dennis and Sr. Jan Cebula, President of the Sisters of St. Francis, were also featured live on KROS Radio 105.9 FM and 1340 AM, where they shared their inspiring insights and experiences.
This recognition is a testament to Marie’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in advancing peace and nonviolence, which have made a profound impact both locally and globally.
