Yesterday, May 27th, 2024, ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs ministers’ meeting, we gathered in front of the EU Council building in Brussels to ask:

How many more red lines will be crossed before the EU acts to stop the impunity and protect civilians, humanitarians, and medical staff in Gaza?

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is catastrophic. Violence, bombardment, and blockade have left over two million Palestinians, half of them children, without clean water, food, and critical medical care. This preventable crisis demands immediate action. A ceasefire must be implemented. All parties must allow safe, rapid, and unimpeded passage of relief.

We stand for peace and nonviolence. Denying humanitarian aid violates international law, and using starvation as a weapon is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. The principles of nonviolence call for the protection of all human life and the cessation of hostilities.

Too many red lines have already been crossed. What will the EU and its member states do to stop the violations and ensure accountability?

The EU and its member states must:

🔴 Secure an immediate ceasefire.
🔴 Ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
🔴 Protect humanitarian and medical missions.
🔴 Protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
🔴 Halt the transfer of weapons to conflicting parties.

We call on the EU to lead by example, prioritising peace and nonviolence in its response to the crisis.
