On 23rd and 24th June 2025 in Brussels, the International Forum for Peace, organised by the Progressive International, brought together diplomats, parliamentarians, activists, researchers, and grassroots movements from around the world in a shared effort to oppose the global war system and promote pathways towards justice, disarmament, and solidarity. Held against the backdrop of intensifying global militarism, the forum created space for critical dialogue, exchange, and coordination between peace movements, with a clear message: peace cannot be imposed by force, it must be built through justice, cooperation, and care.

Giulia Bordin, Advocacy Officer at Pax Christi International, took part in the forum to affirm the central role of nonviolence, reconciliation, and human dignity in global peace efforts. She contributed to the workshop “For the Diplomatic and Negotiated Resolution of Conflicts”, alongside colleagues from the International Peace Bureau (IPB), World Beyond War (WBW), the Transnational Institute, the Lebanese Committee for Peace and Solidarity, and others.

During the forum’s closing session, Giulia Bordin was invited, together with other colleagues, to read the Final Declaration of the International Forum for Peace: For a World in Peace Stop the increase in military spending and the militarization of our society! giving voice to the collective demands of the assembly and affirming the commitment to advancing a vision of peace that is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice.

The Forum for Peace stands as a significant milestone in the renewal of internationalist cooperation among movements for peace and justice. As the work continues, Pax Christi International remains committed to walking this path together with movements across the globe, advancing nonviolence as both a moral imperative and a practical necessity in the face of today’s global challenges.
