Meeting funders and collaborating with Civil Society
Martha Inés Romero commenced her Vienna visit with a meeting at DKA (Dreikönigsaktion der Katholischen Jungschar), one of our invaluable funders supporting our work in Latin America, together with fellow civil society organizations, united in the mission for a better world. She also engaged in insightful conversations with journalists, amplifying our message far and wide.
Advancing global causes with long-term partners
Martha Inés Romero also met with Elisabeth Jungmeier, our main representative to the UN in Vienna, who tirelessly champions our cause on the global stage.
Then, she attended a gathering with dedicated board members of Pax Christi Austria and then had the honor of giving a lecture, hosted by Pax Christi Austria and Welthaus der Diözese Linz, marking the 35th anniversary of Pax Christi Austria. Her insights on our Catholic Nonviolence Initiative showcased how nonviolence can be successfully applied in politics.
Celebrating 60 Years of KOO
Wrapping up the week, our Secretary General had the honor of attending a special celebration event commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Coordination Office of the Austrian Bishops’ Conference (KOO). The discussions delved into the profound challenges that churches face in the wake of the climate crisis, emphasizing the imperative need to transform the global world order towards greater justice and sustainability. The celebration was marked by a shared commitment to social-ecological transformation.
