On 19 February 2025, ahead of the Monday 24 February EU Foreign Ministers meeting and EU-Israel Association Council meeting, European and international Human Rights organisations held a joint press conference to discuss the EU’s duty to sanction Israel’s massive Human Rights violations in Gaza and the Israeli Occupied Palestinian Territory. In the context of ongoing ICC and ICJ investigations the European Commission as well as EU Member States have a duty to assess Israel’s compliance with with Art. 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

A review of trade and other relations between the EU and Israel is necessary to ensure that the EU is compliant with EU law, International Law and the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion and subsequent UN General Assembly Resolutions.

“A just peace cannot grow in the soil of injustice, nor endure in silence in the face of
suffering. A just peace requires truth, accountability, and the courage to uphold human
dignity and rights by repairing victims and promoting the returning of those forced
displaced. We urge the EU to act with integrity, placing justice and human dignity at the
heart of its policies.”
