Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent, a time of waiting and hope. Yet, as Christians and as human beings, we know that drawing nearer to the joyful spirit of Christmas cannot be a complete joy when it is not shared with all our brothers and sisters around the world. Christ became human for each one of us, without distinction, and we wish to bear witness to this unity on earth.
On this journey towards Christmas, we share a prayer of hope from Sudan, a country marked by deep suffering yet sustained by a steadfast faith in the power of peace. This reflection has been prepared by Ronald Pagnucco and Mawa Mohamed, members of the Pax Christi International Sudan Working Group.
In a spirit of fraternity, Christians and Muslims join together in prayer and reflection on the values that sustain their communities in times of trial: hope, perseverance, and the desire for justice and reconciliation. May this prayer be an invitation to all of us to work together for peace, supporting those who bring light into the darkness.
