In the context of the 2025 Jubilee, Caritas Internationalis has launched the campaign “Turn Debt into Hope”, an international initiative calling for the cancellation of unjust and unsustainable debts burdening the world’s poorest countries, thereby transforming debt into an opportunity for development and human flourishing. The campaign has also been endorsed by Pax Christi International.

The initiative has been commented on by Sister Maamalifar Poreku, a Missionary Sister of Our Lady of Africa from Ghana. “As a Christian and a follower of Christ,” she stated, “I continue to nurture hope in all organisations that have listened to the cry of the people. As Saint Paul reminds us, hope does not disappoint.”
