In a world marked by rising violence, fear, and environmental crisis, how can we respond with compassion, courage, and faith? What does it mean to live nonviolently, to accompany migrants with dignity, and to care for the earth as people of faith? These are the guiding questions behind the Maryknoll Monarch Initiative. a collaborative effort between the Maryknoll Sisters and Lay Missioners offering both in-person and online opportunities for formation, reflection, and action.
We especially invite you to attend the opening session on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 5:00 pm MT with Marie Dennis, Director of the Catholic Institute for Nonviolence, on “Nonviolent Christianity for Increasingly Violent Times: Theology and Practice for Forming Nonviolent Individuals and Communities”.
In this opening session, Marie Dennis will explore the practical and theological foundations of nonviolence within the Christian tradition. Drawing on her deep experience in peacebuilding, she will examine how Christians can respond to growing political polarization and violent rhetoric, both personally and collectively. Marie will also reflect on what defines a distinctly Christian nonviolent worldview, and how it differs from other expressions of Christianity and broader approaches to nonviolence
This free webinar series runs through July and features amazing speakers from around the world, activists, peacebuilders, and people of faith living this work every day. Topics include grassroots peace-building, indigenous environmental stewardship, and everyday practices of nonviolence.
