Training of Trainers (Ngong – December 2023)
The activity in Kenya was carried out in cooperation with our local partner Association of Sisterhood in Kenya (AOSK) and included the leadership of our own co-president Sr Wamuyu Wachira and Africa Regional Coordinator, A.Dieudonné Serukabuza.
The final ceremony of the Training of Trainers was a celebration of resilience, hope, and commitment to peace. Religious sisters from diverse congregations came together to deepen their understanding of active nonviolence, peacebuilding, and trauma healing. It was an honor to witness their dedication to becoming agents of positive change in their communities. During the ceremony, they also planted trees as a symbolic gesture, connecting their peacebuilding work to the care of creation and the sustainability of their efforts.
Community Trainings Led by Religious Sisters Across Ngong
Following the Training of Trainers, these empowered religious sisters embarked on a mission to spread the message of peace and healing in their respective congregations and among youth in schools and parishes. Through their leadership and dedication, they conducted training sessions, empowering other sisters and young people with the skills and knowledge needed to promote peace amidst conflict.
Mid-Term Evaluation
In March 2024, the mid-term evaluation of the project took place in two parishes (BIRIKA & ISINYA) in Ngong, Kenya. This evaluation provided an invaluable opportunity to reflect on the progress made thus far and served as a moment of collective introspection and learning, reaffirming our commitment to empowering religious sisters and youth on active nonviolence and peacebuilding.
