In March 2024, the mid-term evaluation of the programme took place in two parishes (BIRIKA & ISINYA) in Ngong, Kenya. The evaluation aimed to assess the progress of our project, address any issues, and hear the testimonies of the people involved so far to gauge the impact of our efforts.

In the Ngong Diocese, our co-president Sr Wamuyu Wachira, our Africa Regional Coordinator, A.Dieudonné Serukabuza, and Sr. Hedwig Muse, LSMIG (AOSK) visited seven different areas, accompanied by trainer sisters, and engaged with various beneficiary groups.

Testimonies

We received positive testimonials from different groups, highlighting personal growth, behavioral changes, and improved communication. Additionally, trainer sisters shared their experiences, emphasizing the program’s positive impact on their daily lives and apostolic activities.

Trainer sisters expressed satisfaction with the training’s impact on their lives and the lives of their trainees. They appreciated the support provided by Pax Christi International and AOSK and advocated for the program’s continuation and expansion to include adults, teachers, local leaders, and beyond.

Meeting with Stakeholders

We presented our findings to Bishop Rev. John Oballa Owaa, who expressed delight in the program’s outcomes, acknowledging the positive impact of the sisters’ training in Ngong.

Additionally, our meeting with the Executive Secretary of AOSK focused on strengthening our partnership and optimizing project implementation.

Results

Over two months, our efforts resulted in training 155 sisters, and 845 young individuals, including 528 girls and 317 boys.

We are dedicated to our mission and eagerly anticipate continuing our program as we strive to empower individuals and communities toward a more peaceful future.

Watch Sr. Mahima Tuscano’s testimony

Sr. Mahima Tuscano, a devoted member of the Society of the Helpers of Mary, recounts her journey with Pax Christi International’s “Empowering religious sisters and young people on active nonviolence and peacebuilding” program. After being trained by Pax Christi International, she now takes on the role of trainer herself, actively passing on her knowledge to both young people and her fellow sisters. She serves in the St. John and Siliuya parish, situated within the vibrant Diocese of Ngong, Kenya.
