Brussels, December 1st, 2023
Pax Christi International with profound concern calls urgent attention to the violence, humanitarian crisis, and acts of genocide increasingly devastating Sudan, particularly the capital city and the Darfur region, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), specifically in the troubled regions of Masisi, Rutshuru and Nyiragongo, where over 10 million people have lost their lives. In light of previous appeals to the international community by the Pax Christi Grands Lacs network and constructive dialogue by ACEAC bishops during the Synod in Rome in October 2023, Pax Christi International pleads for a committed effort to establish a Just Peace and full respect for Human Rights in the affected areas.
