In 2025, Pax Christi International – through Bérengère Savelieff, our representative to UNESCO – re-joined the NGOs working group at UNESCO, ‘the voice of girls’, to coordinate our action with other civil society and faith-based organisations and advocate for the right to education and security for girls around the world.

Coordinated by Martine Lévy from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, the working group has been active at least since 2017, and Pax Christi International was a member through its successive representants at UNESCO. In particular, the group has drawn up a report on the situation of girls around the world through its NGOs, which it then tried to pass on to the representatives of States at UNESCO.

The PCI team had then left the group to devote themselves in particular to inter-religious dialogue. This is therefore a return to our roots, as requested by Martine Lévy.

You can find here a summary (in French) of the report: “UNESCO in action for gender equality: 2022-2023.”
