There are moments in which we are called to make a choice. In Ancient Greek, these moments are referred to as kairos, times of awareness and responsibility. It is from one of these moments that the work of Pax Christi International in support of the document Kairos II: A Moment of Truth – Faith in a Time of Genocide emerges.

Sixteen years after the first appeal in 2009, Palestinian Christians have once again spoken to the Church and to the whole world about their time of profound crisis, in which it seems increasingly difficult to continue nurturing the flame of faith and hope. Kairos II is “both lament and proclamation”: a courageous call to truth and justice, through the telling of all the suffering that is taking place.

Since the launch of the document on 14 November 2025, Pax Christi International has accompanied: in those days, our delegation was in Palestine, listening and engaging with the “living stones” of Palestine and their message of nonviolence.

We have therefore created a booklet to support the Pax Christi International movement in actively engaging with the Kairos II document.

The document is composed as following:

  • a brief introduction to the experience of Kairos Palestine and to the meaning of the new Kairos II document;
  • a step-by-step practices guide based on the different chapters of the document;
  • a Language and Engagement Checklist to support our communication process;
  • the full text of Kairos II.

We hope this booklet helps inspire actions and implementation of Kairos II, supporting our daily commitment for a just peace.

May faith and hope always guide us, especially in a time of genocide, teaching us to interpret the kairos that is given to us.
