To our donors, members, partners, and all who stood with us this year, thank you!

As 2024 draws to a close, we at Pax Christi International extend our deepest gratitude to you for standing with us and supporting our mission throughout this year. Your commitment has been the foundation of our work for just peace and reconciliation, and together, we have achieved remarkable milestones.

This year, we tackled a range of urgent global concerns. We addressed humanitarian crises and severe human rights violations in Sudan, Haiti, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where conflict and resource exploitation fuel cycles of violence and inequality, amplifying calls for dialogue, sustainable peace, and nonviolent solutions.

We tirelessly advocated for just peace in the Holy Land through numerous actions, events, and campaigns. We launched the call “Embracing our Faith“, which as for now gathers more than 200 signatures from Archbishops and Bishops as well as Faith Communities representatives across Europe. We honoured the Parents Circle Families Forum with the 2023 Peace Award for their courageous and inspiring efforts toward reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.

We also urged the European Union and UN Member States to adopt more peaceful, nonviolent approaches in their policies. Our advocacy for a world free of nuclear weapons continued with active participation in key global moments, including the 2024 NPT PrepCom in Geneva. We attended several UN events, including the 10th session of the working group on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights and UNESCO’s International Conference of NGOs.

We co-hosted a webinar to explore the urgent need for a legally binding framework ensuring that Transnational Corporations and other businesses respect human rights and protect the environment.

Our International Representatives strengthened our movement’s engagement with global organisations and institutions like the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe. We are truly grateful for their dedication and support.

We strengthened our ecological justice work, supporting local communities in Latin America in their nonviolent resistance against extractive industries. We hosted a seven-episode webinar series, Weaving Hope in Times of Transitions to a Life in Harmony, exploring pathways to resilience, solidarity, and ecological harmony. We actively participated in COP16 on biodiversity in Colombia. There, we proudly honoured the Haiti Justice and Peace Commission (JILAP) and Sister Gladys Montesinos, Carmelitan Sisters, with the 2024 Peace Award, celebrating their relentless efforts and profound impact on their communities. Additionally, we published research advocating for a peacebuilding approach rooted in social and environmental justice.

Our Catholic Nonviolence Initiative continued its mission to advance the principles and practice of active nonviolence in the Church and the world. In September, we proudly launched the Catholic Institute for Nonviolence in Rome, fostering dialogue between researchers, theologians, Church leaders, and voices from global peripheries. One of the Institute’s first activities was hosting a seminar series on active nonviolence as a contribution to the Synod on Synodality.

We expanded the second phase of our program empowering religious sisters in Central and Eastern Africa, starting from Kenya, and then reaching Uganda, and Burundi. These sisters, transformed by our training, are now promoting active nonviolence and just peace within their communities.

As we look ahead to 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of Pax Christi International, we are reminded of why we work to build just peace.

In a world often overshadowed by violence and conflict, it can be easy to lose sight of the hope that sustains us. Yet, the milestones we achieve—thanks to the support of our donors, members, local partners, and countless individuals—reaffirm our belief in the power of collective action to transform lives and communities.

We hope you will continue to walk with us and support us as we strive for a more just and nonviolent world. Together, we can face the challenges ahead with courage and hope.

Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. May the new year bring just peace to all of us!

We asked the generous donor year what inspired them to support us. They shared a heartfelt message for all our donors—one filled with hope and a call to action. Read their letter, from one donor to another, and consider joining them. Thank you!
